Google Home improves with scene control and native support for more gadgets

A common condition to check for is slot filling to be complete. On enter - This stage runs only once when a scene is activated. You can trigger a webhook or prompt the user to do one-time setup of your scene.

I believe the exact same thing is happening to the scene and script entities. Except in our case, scenes do not have a standard view in the Google Home app so we’re unable to move them into a room from inside the app. Here I can see the scenes in Google Home that I added through Home Assistant. For example, “unlock” isn’t an available starter, but you can set “lock” as an action.

Philips Hue + Spotify commands

My scenes have a combination of KPL buttons and dimmers as scene controllers as well. I'd be very interested in seeing what you come up with when your schedule allows. User features Special features available to users of your smart home Action with no extra development work. With Google Home, your Nest and Matter devices work together reliably to help with your household needs. Just look for smart devices with a Works with Google Home or Matter badge.

We’ll use rules to copy the setpoints to/from the storage items. The rule executes when the Scene_Wakeup switch receives an ON command . In order for devices to be used by Google Home, they need to be set up completely. Linking devices to your account in Google Home is not enough. Devices and scenes need to be assigned to a room in order to become part of the household.

System scenes

The Google Home app doesn’t appear to have an area to view/rename/modify scenes. To assign a scene to a room, it appears that it must be set from the service which is providing it to the Google Home. Routines are only available in select regions and languages. To use Routines in a supported region, switch your phone's default language to a supported language in that region. To use starters based on time, sunrise and sunset, and when someone arrives or leaves a home, you must set an address for your home.

Then, I taken the example configuration coming from official page, and setup it in configuration.yaml, obliviously changing entities with my light name. The Google Assistant works with a wide range of Insteon devices including Wall Switches,Plug-in Devices,Thermostats, and Wall Outlets. As far as Google knows they are to be switched on and off so they might as well be switches.

Using your solution I can activate a totally different group/scene when turning on and off the virtual switch. Its really rare that I want to turn on all lights in my house. I think the solution with the template switches are rather brilliant. I was thinking about using a scene instead to avoid the turn on part, but this i even better.

I haven’t had issues with this, but if I find the time, I’ll probably put all my scene storage items in a single group, and persist that group between restarts. Ah but routines are just one of the methods I listed above- you don’t need them! The only reliable place I could find scenes are when I am editing a routine… under home controls… under the scene adjustment option. Or if I know the “✨magic phrase✨”, I can say something like “Hey Google, activate the monthly driveway lights”. So a piece of advice - make your ISY scenes into Google Switches, or if they are simple, make them Google Lights. Once I reset my mental model and changed my scenes to switches VIOLA!

Personal tools

Google Home has been limited to light bulb, thermostat, switch and security camera control. With the update, connected devices such as vacuums, washers, dryers and dishwashers are also added to the support list. I am a new user to hubitat and I guess I am failing to understand some basic principles. Right now I am trying to create light scenes within hubitat and use them via Google Home routines. However my scenes do not show up in google home as an option.

To check the "Category" click on the device "Spoken" column in the Spoken Device List. Up until now or for some unsupported devices, users will need to use very specific phrases to control third-party gadgets. For example, if they want to control a washing machine manufactured by LG, they are required first to say “Ok Google, talk to LG Smart” before asking for further control actions. Google Assistant, the voice assistant featured in Google's connected speakers and Android devices, is now compatible with Somfy’s TaHoma® app. Launch pre-configured scenes to control yourmotorized blinds and shadesindividually, or in a group, all easily configured within your TaHoma® app. Conditions - You can transition to another scene based on conditions you define.

In that instance it worked fine as the scene only contained one light. What I am concened about is with the room feature working now a “Turn off Family room” vefbal will turn off all lights in the room and a scene does not need to have an off. I guess you could just leave the “else” blank, will try that and see what the result is and if it causes extra delay etc. These traits and commands are required, if applicable to your device. Lighting devices from LIFX and SmartThings appeared in the Home app and the scenes functioned normally there. But Google might bring something more advanced to its users. I’m having trouble activating my smartthings scenes through google home.
